RAISING SOME GREEN ON THE GREENS
Staying home this summer let me get involved in a few local golf fundraisers. It’s a great way to spend a hot summer day, while raising some green for a great cause.
I had the chance to sponsor a team to benefit the Rose State College Foundation Scholarship Fund. I got together with my Uncle Guy, family friend Randy Earhardt and my dad. We tied for third, but lost out in the end on the hole–by–hole breakout. But, no worries, we had a blast and the real winner in the end was the RSC Scholarship Fund. The tournament raised a record $41,000. A lot of kids from my home town high school end up at Rose for their first two years of college, so I know these funds will help to benefit them as they pursue a higher education at Rose.
Another group I hit the greens for was the Infant Crisis Center. Their tournament, Birdies and Bogies for Babies
was a big success. It was a great day and I got to meet and hang out with a lot of the young teens who serve on the ICS Teen Board, who hosted the golf event. Team Merriman faired a little better in this round of golf, walking away with first place. Again, the real winners here are the babies these funds will help everyday. |
