WRAPPING UP 2002—A RECAP OF OCTOBER THROUGH DECEMBER
By October I’d already been in Canada for two months working on Veritas. I have to admit I was just a little excited when the show took a break in shooting just in time for the Oklahoma State Fair. I love a fair and I’m a huge midway arcade junkie. I usually spend most of my time tossing balls into or at something and walk away with a pretty good collection of stuffed toys for my cousins. I’ve yet to shoot the whole star out of the center at the shooting gallery, but practice makes perfect and there’s always next year.

November rolled around quick and before I knew it, it was Thanksgiving. But, in Canada they celebrate Thanksgiving in October , so I couldn’t get home for the holidays. My mom, dad, sister and girlfriend all flew up and joined me in Canada instead. We had a great time. We decorated my Christmas tree, cooked up a big pot of chili and I even got homemade pies and banana pudding. We spent the day with Uncle Alex and Aunt Pat. We all pitched in on dinner and celebrated our family with fine wine and great food. I think Uncle Alex was pretty impressed with my carving technique.

In December production shut down for two weeks and I was on the first jet home. Christmas at our house is so good. There’s always a big family New Year’s Eve party with great food, music, family entertainment and games and the usual gift frenzy. The best gift I got this year was a Tournament Foosball table, for me and my dad , from my mom. With enough practice I just might beat him someday. My dad made these awesome blow guns out of PVC pipe that launched marshmallows. He even spray painted them with a camo look. When the war was over there were marshmallows everywhere, in my sister’s hair, stuck to the wall and in the carpet. Don’t underestimate the power of a marshmallow to inflict injury. My cousin Christian even had a war wound on his neck to prove it. It was all good, clean, all be it sticky, fun!

Between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, I headed south to Texas. The OSU cowboys were in the big bowl game. My girlfriend is on the pom squad and my sister is an OSU grad, so you can bet we were gonna go get crazy at the game. It was a sea of nothing but orange in the stadium as the fans cheered their team to victory. We made a lot of noise, donned crazy pom-pom wigs and got all decked out in our orange shirts for the big day. Go Pokes. On the trip back, we stopped off in Dallas at Speed Zone for some fast track racing.

BEST DATE? WORST DATE? FIRST DATE?

BEST: This year, New Year’s Eve with my baby. Loved it!

WORST: A really boring date with a girl who had no brains and no personality. She was hot, but couldn’t carry on an intelligent conversation. No way I’m naming names!

FIRST: My first real date, you know when you have a car, pick up the girl and it’s just the two of you and not all of your friends, was with Lisa Casper in 10th grade.
