Wedding Details... The Inside Scoop

It's getting close…only three months to the big day! I promised to give you the scoop on our plans so that you can be a part of it all. I was in LA for six weeks, so Micol and I had to cover some of this long distance, but here are a few of the important details we have decided on. I was only home for a few weeks before I had to head to Vancouver to begin shooting "The Colt", and Micol kept me pretty busy with tux fittings, getting registered, meetings with the baker to make cake choices and visits with the minister and our wedding planner. I didn't know there were so many decisions to make. I thought all I had to do was show up on time and say "I DO".

The wedding will be at the Walnut Creek Chapel in Oklahoma City. Micol visited the chapel with my mom, grandma and her mom while I was in LA. She fell in love with it the minute she walked in. She called me in LA and said, "Well, I found the place and here's the date. Can you be there?" Like she had to ask if I'd show up! I told her if she booked it, I'd be there! We've also booked our honeymoon trip and will be going to St. Lucia in the Virgin Islands.

The colors for the wedding are cream, platinum gray and champagne pink. The guys will be wearing platinum gray Ralph Lauren Barrington tuxes with cream shirts and a vest and tie combo from After Six, called Harmony. The girls are wearing these really great strapless dresses in an icy pink color. Micol's gown is candlelight white, so she tells me. She insists on not letting me see it until she walks down the isle and I think that is great. There is something magical about seeing your bride in her dress for the first time as she walks down the isle into your arms looking like a princess. But, I've included this picture of me at the tux fitting just to give you a sneak preview!

We have chosen the music for the ceremony. A really close friend of mine, who I grew up singing with, will do two duets with a guy friend of ours. Amanda and Josh will sing "The Prayer" (Charlotte Church/Josh Groban) while our parents are lighting our unity candles and being seated. Then my Aunt Heather will sing an original song that she co-produced and recorded, called "Stay With Me". This will be sung for the procession of the groomsmen, bridesmaids, ring bearer and flower girls. The song we have chosen to be sung when we light the unity candle and join our lives together is, "From This Moment" by Shania Twain. Our first dance will be to a song called, "The Dance" by Stephen Curtis-Chapman. It's a song about the dance a couple shares from wedding day to old age. I have a surprise in store for Micol during the reception. My groomsmen and I have a special number planned to sing to Micol and it should be fun.

My Uncle John, who is a minister, will share the welcoming of guests and family and deliver the opening prayer. We will be married by Micol's childhood minister in a very traditional ceremony. We had talked about sharing a poem or writing our own vows, but we both agreed we would probably be too emotional and probably loose it.

The rehearsal dinner will be held at a favorite family owned German restaurant that I've gone to since I was a boy. Dinner will be served in the wine cellar. There will be an oompah band to play all of those old songs like Going to the Chapel and I'm Getting Married in the Morning. On that night, Micol and I will share a poem that we write for eachother. Since it will be a smaller more intimate group and not as emotionally charged as the wedding day, we thought we could handle it.

Since we are getting married on a Friday night and don't fly out for our honeymoon trip until Sunday, we have planned a big backyard Bar-B-Q Saturday night with games, food and fireworks for all of our family and out of town guests. Kind of an early July 4th .
